The Collaborative, Accelerated, Recruitment, and Training (CART) is a new, emerging talent development and retention initiative for Michigan. CART streamlines a process to engage partners from throughout Michigan to recruit and/or train a skilled pool of candidates to satisfy employment/skill gaps.
CART’s focus is to align existing workforce development, educational institutions, and economic development partners with private sector companies who are expanding, relocating their business to Michigan, and/or struggling to identify a qualified workforce.
Private sector companies can be assured that the multi-partner collaboration throughout the state will relieve their workforce or skill gap needs. CART can directly impact the organization’s bottom by saving costs incurred through money and resources that are spent during the recruitment and hiring process.
In support of business growth and job retention, Michigan has a large availability of workers to fill new and open positions:
- There are currently 50,000 positions available on the Talent Bank
- There are approximately 875,000 resumes posted on the Talent Bank, which includes both employed and unemployed individuals. Nearly 90% of applicants with active resumes on the Talent Bank have at least a high school diploma and around half of the applicants have some college or higher levels of education attainment.
