A summary of your relevant education, experiences, skills and accomplishments relating to the field of work you are entering.
What is the purpose of a resume?
The purpose of a resume is to get your "foot in the door"-to land you an interview.
Rule of thumb:
Keep it clear, concise and easy to read!
Resume Do's & Don'ts:
- Keep it 1-2 pages if possible (unless you have extensive relevant experience)
- Use reverse chronological format
- Consider an objective or summary of qualifications at the top
- Bullets. Use bullets rather than paragraphs
- Lead your statements with verbs
- Use spell/grammar check and have someone proofread it when you are finished
- Use appropriate business etiquette, especially with email addresses
- Do not list everything you have ever accomplished
- Do not use italics, scripts, underlined words, shading or graphics
- Do not fold or staple your resume
- Do not waste space to say "references available upon request"
