Employers: Find Talent

Often, when we talk about talent in Michigan, part of the conversation is centered around the disconnect between employers & their available positions and the talent pool that is available to them.

Taking an inventory of available resources for identifying talent is nearly as important as the actual process of finding talent. Networking is key to this process. Participating in group discussions and events with available job seekers and students will assist an organization with the selection process for filling internships or employment opportunities.

A few resources available in Michigan to aid employers with finding talent include:

  • Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) Job Portal, recruiting services provided by public and private organizations
  • MEDC's statewide Michigan Shifting Gears Program (free consulting from experienced professionals)
  • Local networking initiatives such as the Lansing-based Career Networking Group
  • Michigan Works Agencies
  • Career Service representatives at colleges and universities (Contact Amanda Avila for assistance with connecting)
  • Michigan Internship Initiative-learn how to structure an internship program
  • Collaborative, Accelerated, Recruitment, and Training (CART)
  • Livingston Business & Education Alliance-Intern Livingston initiative
