Regional Development

Our early work focused intensively on regional development, and we continue that passion today. A particular focus for our "Region" portfolio includes greater-Flint, as we believe greater-Flint represents the challenges of former "rust belt" regions. Our portfolio of "regional" projects work to improve greater-Flint and other regions' quality of life, innovation, talent, and global competitiveness.

Regional development initiatives include:

The Flint Area Reinvestment Office:

FARO assists public, private, and nonprofit organizations with successfully attracting and utilizing federal and state funding for the Flint area.

Great Lakes International Trade and Transport Hub:

An initiative that is clearing a path for freight traffic to and from the Port of Halifax through Detroit and Port Huron gateways. This will allow for greater import and export opportunities between Michigan and international partners.

I-69 International Trade Corridor Next Michigan Development Corporation:

We assisted nearly 40 communities in Genesee, Shiawassee, Lapeer, and St. Clair counties in developing a comprehensive trade strategy for the region. Designated a Next Michigan Development Corporation, the region can now offer economic incentives to businesses that utilize multiple forms of transportation.

Northern Transformation Corporation:

A PCF-launched 501(c)3 organization that is focused on raising the economic activity and quality of life in Michigan's northeast region.
