A free Employer Internship Training Session will be held at the University of Michigan-Flint tomorrow (October 18).
The event is aimed to assist employers in the area with building internship programs while connecting them to educational partners in the region.
All of the Flint area colleges and universities have been invited to participate in this event, making it the first collaborative session in Mid-Michigan.
The idea to collaborate with other educational institutions was fully supported by UM-Flint and Davenport University among others.
"Rooted deep in the work that we do at the University of Michigan-Flint is our commitment to experimental education and community engagement," said Aimi Moss, UM-Flint's Director of Academic Advising and Career Center. "We are delighted to be hosting this with Prima Civitas and educational partners in Genesee County, and welcoming employers from across the state to join us as we strengthen our commitment to keeping talent in Michigan."
Employers will learn the five steps required to build an internship program, receive a copy of the Employer Internship Toolkit, and also hear from employers who have built successful programs.
Presenters will detail how employers can utilize "Career Changers" and dislocated workers within their organization through internship programs, and will discuss specifics regarding how to utilize International Students.
