WIRED Initiative (2006-2010)
Awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor, the Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) initiative was a $15 million three year grant that helped to build mid-Michigan as a driving force in attracting new industries to the region and preparing workers for 21st century jobs. We managed the alliance responsible for implementing WIRED (subsequently known as the Mid-Michigan innovation team).
At WIRED’s conclusion, it was described as an exemplar federal grant and established a new, economically collaborative 13 county mid-Michigan region that operates today.
